Pelin Akyol presented at the 4th Australian Workshop on Public Finance.

e61 Research Manager Pelin Akyol presented their research on the causal effects of informal caregiving on labour market outcomes and well-being of carers at the 4th Australian Public Finance Workshop in Canberra. The study highlights the critical role informal caregiving plays in society, particularly as an aging population increases care demands. Findings show that caregiving reduces work hours, with primary carers experiencing a larger decrease. Younger carers maintain their labour market status but suffer reduced life satisfaction, while older carers decrease workforce participation without significant changes in life satisfaction.
