Gianni La Cava presented at Macquarie University.

E61’s Research Director, Gianni La Cava, presented a guest lecture at Macquarie University on Inequality, Inclusive Growth, and the Labour Share. Using a range of micro datasets, he shows how inequality in living standards has risen in Australia since the 1990s and income growth has become less inclusive across age groups. The incomes of young Australians have not kept pace with those of older Australians for at least two decades and despite the strong post-COVID labour market. These observations raise a range of issues for future research on inequality in Australia.
