M4M Micro for Macro 2024 Workshop

16 December - 17 December

Time & Location

Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th December, 2024
H.C. Coombs Centre, 122 Kirribilli Avenue, Kirribilli, NSW 2061

About the event

The e61 Institute and Macquarie University are holding the inaugural Micro 4 Macro Workshop in Sydney on the 16th & 17th December 2024. The workshop studies the intersection of microeconomic heterogeneity and macroeconomic outcomes from an applied perspective. The workshop brings together policy and academic economists to discuss frontier research and answer macroeconomic questions using microeconomic data and methods.

We encourage contributions from researchers that use equilibrium models to explore microeconomic heterogeneity and macroeconomic outcomes, but we will also consider research that uses new sources of micro data and proposes new empirical approaches to address important questions in macroeconomics.

Specific topics of interest for the 2024 workshop include:

  • Household consumption, saving and wealth
  • Education, skills, and human capital formation
  • Labour markets, inequality, and the social safety net
  • Structural reform, firm competition, and regulation
  • Housing markets, mobility, and spatial economics

Those interested in participating should email a draft of their paper to m4m@e61.in by 31 July 2024. Travel expenses (up to limits) will be covered for presenters. Attendance at the workshop is by invitation only.

Confirmed Guest Speakers:

  • Laura Pilossoph, Duke University
  • Gregor Jarosch, Duke University
  • Cecile Gaubert, University of California, Berkeley

About the event

Subject and Abstract to be advised

Bio

My research interests lie in the intersection of Bayesian statistics, econometrics and development economics. I most often do applied econometrics aimed at measuring generalisability and quantifying uncertainty around our knowledge base in development economics and economics more broadly.  I focus on Bayesian modelling of treatment effect heterogeneity at multiple levels within data sets and literatures.
